The last exorcism who is the demon

Abalam aka Abalim is a recognized demon in the pantheon of Hell. He is an assistant to Paimon, King of Hell. Bell actually did the contortions herself, thanks to her years of ballet and natural double-joints. Several possibilities are mentioned, either in the movie or by viewers.

At first, Cotton suspects that Nell may be a victim of incest, probably by her father or brother. Nell says that she had sex with a boy named Logan Winters Logan Craig Reid , who works in a local coffee shop and turns out to be gay, but Logan denies ever having sex with Nell and admits that he only talked with her for a minute when they were attending a party thrown last summer by Pastor Manley Tony Bentley.

Since Manley told Cotton that the last time he saw Nell was some three years ago, Cotton concludes that Manley was lying, making Manley also suspect. Viewers who accept the fact that Nell was truly possessed by Abalam conclude that Abalam impregnated her, either through rape or possession, or that the baby is Abalam himself.

This idea is supported by Cotton's book of demons, which defines Abalam as a "defiler" of young women. Nell relates the story of how she came to have sex with Logan, but she tells it in the third person, as though someone i. Either Nell was pretending or it really was Abalam talking, depending upon how you view the movie. In either case, it was necessary to get Cotton and the filming crew out of the house so that the birthing ritual could commence.

Consequently, Cotton, Iris, and Daniel, convinced that Nell got pregnant after sex with Logan, start heading for home. Only on a whim do they stop at the coffee shop to speak with Logan and, based on what he tells them, decide to return to the house. After speaking with Logan and realizing that Pastor Manley was lying about the last time he saw Nell, Cotton and his crew return to the Sweetzer house. No one is there, the phones have been ripped out, and satanic symbols have been painted all over the walls.

Hearing some screaming out back, they go looking for Nell. They come upon a large bonfire near which Nell is screaming and writhing on an altar. Louis has been blindfolded and tied to a pole, and a number of people, led by Pastor Manley dressed in a red robe and a hood, are chanting. Manley carries the baby to the bonfire and tosses it in. Instantly, the fire begins to roar and billow upwards.

Visitors to the webcam-based chat site were given a shock when, in a video planted by the studio, a woman unbuttoning her blouse transformed into a demon.

The film was originally titled Cotton after one of the main characters, Cotton Marcus. Ashley Bell was the second actress to read for the role of Nell. She got the part after she improvised an exorcism during her audition. Patrick Fabian memorized an 8-minute sermon for his Cotton Marcus audition. Scientologists exorcise alien beings known as body thetans. Wiccans banish unwelcome spirits with a smouldering mixture of powdered garlic, peppermint, ground clove, thistle and sage. Even the Church of England is in this market.

The guidelines of its "deliverance ministry" were revised as recently as These make it clear that ministers' speech, touch and body language must remain courteous throughout the proceedings, however unmannerly Satan may prove. They also insist that the diocesan board of finance must take out adequate insurance and that all record-keeping should observe the constraints of the Data Protection Act. One leading Anglican practitioner, the Rev Tom Willis of East Riding, says he's still called out around twice a week even though he's officially retired.

In view of all this activity, you have to wonder what's really going on. The roots of exorcism go deep, and may even originate in prehistoric shamanism.

Jesus seemed pretty clear where he stood: Matthew, Mark and Luke all agree that he empowered his disciples to "cast out demons". Yet just what's happening nowadays seems a bit cloudy. Naturally, you head off first to YouTube in search of some fruity representations of full-scale exorcisms in progress. Things seem to be on the up-and-up for Nell and the audience as interesting roommates, a new boyfriend, and one creepy old man head mistress type slip into Nell's new life.

Gently, the shy country girl starts to innocently sin her way into the dark side. It's almost adorable watching Nell's version of being bad, which includes kissing a boy on the lips wearing pink lipstick and listening to hotel guests fornicate through the walls. Sadly, the interesting side characters and corruption of Nell's soul side plots are all abruptly abandoned for secret religious societies and CG gimmicks.

The lost lamb con man, Cotton Marcus' horrific journey and fire faith walk refreshed and energized the tired found footage genre. The second movie is shot in the classic narrative style but still had a chance to dig deeper.

It's revealed that the original demon who possessed Nell is actually in love with her. This creature will stop at nothing to seduce her, but she has to allow this seduction of her own free will.
